About the role:

We are looking for an experienced and talented Head of Design Management.

  • To provide leadership, direction, support and guidance supported by coaching and mentoring for the Design Managers
  • Ensure consistency and adherence to Morgan Sindall processes and procedures.
  • Communicate Group direction and procedural change via regular communication and instigate forums to promote best practice/lessons learnt/Innovation
  • Manage resource with commercial consideration in collaboration with the Business Unit Senior Leadership team
  • Promote a collaborative culture with a hands-on team engagement approach
  • Create a regular means of 2-way-communication with our core external consultants

You will be educated to degree or HNC/HND level in a relevant technical discipline and you will be a member of an industry recognised professional institute (eg. RIBA or CIOB).

A full UK driving licence is essential.

Brief Overview : Demonstrate your plan of how you will implement and manage the below to create a positive and supportive culture across the Business Unit geography, whilst maintaining regular dialogue to the Senior Leadership team.

  1. Maintain regular dialogue with your design community ensuring the transition of workload is productively managed between the preconstruction/build/post-completion phases of our workload.
  1. Support, develop and challenge the design managers to create a collaborative team approach within both the preconstruction and delivery phases.
  1. Implement team development programmes to ensure their experience and training is aligned to our work-sector.
  1. Ensure group direction and procedural change are communicated and implemented efficiently.
  1. Monitor Design Manager resource allocation in line with preconstruction and project budgets.
  1. Develop Consultant appointments and scope documents to align with project needs and manage risk proportionally.
  1. Create a regular and open dialogue forum, with our key external design consultants.
  1. Highlight any concerns or support needed to allow the transition from your current role, into the new Head-of-Design, leadership role .
