EMPLOYMENT, TRAINING & SKILLS:

👩‍🏫 Using the Knowledge Quad, we have delivered two rounds of CSCS card training, where ten Greenwich residents successfully obtained their CSCS card

🏢 The Knowledge Quad was used by LSEC for Quantity Surveying lessons until Friday 15th March.

🏢 On Monday 18th March, a 14-week accredited construction programme started for Greenwich NEETs using the Knowledge Quad and the vacant flats to carry out practical work experience. 11 young people (NEETs) completed the programme in June

🏢 A second round of a 14-week study programme commenced on 16th September 2024 and 14 NEETs are taking part

Wider community engagement

  • In October, Shooters Hill College visited the Woolwich Leisure Centre site again to carry out a risk assessment of the void flats; this is where the Shooters Hills College Multi Skills courses will be taking place. Shooters Hill are keen to start the courses using the void flats on-site compound from the new term.
  • This month we supported the Jobs Fair hosted by the Royal Borough of Greenwich, held at Charlton Athletic Football Club. We engaged with over 50 residents looking to work in the construction industry and took in several CVs.
  • We delivered a site talk and tour to the young learners on our 14-week study programme. 14 learners received a presentation from Mike about the project which was followed by a guided tour.
  • We invited a PRU (Pupil Referral Unit) called New Haven School, based in Greenwich to our site. Ten students and four teachers received a presentation followed by a guided tour of the live construction site. All ten students are keen to work in construction and requested work experience.
  • Our Comms team visited the Woolwich Leisure Centre to continue filming the young people on the 14-study programme. We also filmed an apprentice with our flooring/screeding subcontractor, who secured the apprenticeship after taking part in the first round of the study programme earlier this year.
  • In October, our drylining subcontractor Roskel delivered a drylining workshop to the young people on the 14-week study programme. This workshop was well received by the learners. Roskel have taken on a young person who took part in the first round of the study programme earlier this year, also took part in the workshop.
  • We met with The Pathway Group to discuss a construction Boot Camp in the New Year. Pathway Group will partner up with Maximas and Greenwich GLLaB to deliver this programme in the Woolwich Leisure Centre Knowledge Quad.
