Project update - September 2024

News |

Here's the latest update

Site Activities

We have been working hard in these summer holidays to get the underground services installed prior to the school arriving back in September. New drainage runs have been laid which will run underneath our hoarding line and connect to the future school building. As well as this, we have BT, electricity and comms feeding from a new substation that is being placed in position of the existing bike sheds.

An EWS (emergency water supply) tank has been made specifically for the project and is now securely in place. Due to local water pressure not being high enough, firefighters would feed from this source of water in the event of a fire.

FUN FACT! 💭

The EWS tank installed can hold up to 50,000 litres of water!

Other News

We recently had a visit from CCS to carry out a report on our site. The Considerate Constructors Scheme (CCS) is an initiative in the construction industry aimed at improving the image of construction and ensuring that construction activities are carried out with minimal negative impact on the community, the environment, and the workforce. We achieved a score of 45/45, which is something we are very proud of and even more so for it being our first visit of the project.

Upcoming work

As we move closer to the next stage of development. Our fencing contractor will be on-site to install the Multi-Use Games Area (MUGA) fencing, along with pedestrian and vehicle gates, ensuring secure access and defining the perimeter.

Following the fencing installation, the MUGA will be planed and re-tarmacked to provide a smooth, durable surface. Once the tarmac is laid, it will be carefully painted with layouts for multiple sports, transforming the area into a versatile athletic space.

Simultaneously, our groundworkers will begin pile cropping, a vital process where the tops of the concrete piles are cut down to the correct level. This step is essential for preparing the foundations, ensuring they are precisely aligned for the next stage of construction.
