Project update - November 2024

Here's the latest update

Site Activities

We have been making steady progress recently on erecting the steel frame. We started in ‘Area 1’ which will be the new plant room and main hall. The sequence then took us to ‘Area 2’ which is the main teaching block space’. These parts of the building are then connected in the middle.

The columns are lifted in first and tied down to the bolt sets which were constructed on top of the piles. The beams are then guided into place and connected to start forming a structure. Precast concrete planks have also started to be installed onto the frame to form the first part of the flooring.

Our groundworkers have been working around the school side installing more ducts for services that will power the new school. The drainage installed during the summer has been run underneath our hoarding and into our site boundary to connect with the new system that’s installed around the perimeter.

We have formed the new substation base and now landed the new unit.; this is positioned where the existing bike shelters were. Service connections are currently in progress.

Other News

A member of our team, along with some colleagues in the office recently took part in volunteering for the Catching Live charity in Canterbury.

This involved preparing and serving breakfast and lunch for local people who are homeless or insecurely housed in the area.

Upcoming work

Our steel erectors will be continuing to lay the rest of the precast planks and metal decking onto the frame. This will provide the base in preparation for the structural topping process to commence.

We will also be forming the ground floor slab, which makes up the hardstanding around the building.
