Site Activities

The roofing contractor are making great progress on the teaching block won't, laying the vapour-control layer, insulation and capping sheet. These are the first layers of the green roof build up. The green coloured boards shown are known as CP board, which are part of the parapet. The roofing is dressed up along this to ensure it is fully weatherproofed – the final finish won't be this colour!

Our Metsec contractor have been positioning the SFS (steel frame solution) around the first and ground floor. Metsec Steel Framing Solution (SFS) is a fast-track metal stud panel framing system which provides a carrier for insulation, exterior cladding and interior boarding. This is a crucial part of the construction process, as it sets out the walls, doors, windows etc for the new building.

Upcoming work

On the roof space, we will begin to install large timber kerbs around the spaces on the roof where lights and windcatchers will be positioned.

Our Metsec contractor will be boarding the external faces of the building, whilst bricklayers begin building the outer face of the elevation.

Other news

Our apprentice site manager Matt was recently invited to attend a careers fair at Canterbury college. He was given the opportunity to discuss with students his journey to date and provide advice when considering a career in the construction industry.

*** Half Term Works ***

We will be working around the school side during half term (w/c 17th) to make final connections and carry out works around the substation. This will be from the main school gate up to the highway boundary.
