Progress

Key facts

  • Redevelopment and modernisation of Forestry and Land Scotland’s Newton Nursery
  • The redevelopment includes a new 12000m2 glasshouse, new offices, and a new distribution and operations centre.
  • Once complete, the project will allow Forestry and Land Scotland to continue developing new techniques for growing the many millions of seedlings that will become the forests of the future, helping both to increase woodland cover and mitigate the impacts of climate change
  • Project completion expected early 2025

Working in the Elgin community

Making a positive difference in the communities we work in is a vital part of our responsible business plan. Our Community Investment Group supports our project teams in the delivery of local community engagement projects. The Scotland Special Works team is part of the wider Scotland business unit, which operates out of two regional offices, the Inverness Office being associated with this project.

Darren Douglas, project manager, is the dedicated community contact for the Newton Nursery project and will maintain communications with neighbours and the surrounding community. If you have any questions, please do get in touch with Darren via the contact form at the bottom of the page with any queries regarding the project.

As a business we are proud members of the Considerate Constructors Scheme, which has a Code of Considerate Practice designed to encourage best practice beyond statutory requirements.

This page will provide a snapshot of activities we have been undertaking in the local community.
