Project overview
MKUH’s new Imaging Centre is replacing the outdated single-storey MRI scanner building, providing Milton Keynes with a cutting-edge medical facility.
Construction is taking place in an active hospital setting on a logistically tight site footprint, ensuring safe pedestrian and public movement at all times.
We commenced on site in August 2024, beginning demolition of the existing building in October, and are due to handover the newly completed 2-storey building in March 2026.
Site Activities
In March, we completed all below-ground foul and surface water drainage. Structurally, we have also completed the first floor slab, and all columns and walls up to the second floor, with the preparation for the second floor slab well underway!
We have also commenced work on the incoming services, including both medical gases and water, to supply the new Imaging Centre from the existing hospital.
Upcoming work
Next month, we will be completing the reinforced concrete frame, marking a significant milestone in the project!
Following this, we will move forward with the SFS (steel framing system) and board install around the perimeter of the building.
CCS visit - top marks!
The project achieved a 45/45 in our latest CCS Audit, through Respecting the Community, Caring for the Environment, and Valuing the Workforce.
An excellent report for a site with such a small footprint that has made use of an ongoing positive relationship with the client to ensure that nuisance to hospital activities is limited. Social value activity has included both support for the local community as well as promotion of the industry in a positive manner and results are promoted with the client."

Tower Crane Rescue Training
Our site team participated in tower crane rescue training to enhance safety and preparedness on site.
Ross, Tom, Reuben, and Beth took part in the training, forming the rescue team. The session included practical exercises where the teams ascended the tower crane and performed a rescue drill, with Reuben in the stretcher! This hands-on experience ensures our team is ready to respond quickly and effectively in the event of an emergency.
Work experience
This month we will be joined by work experience student Bridget Grindley. Bridget, a student at Walton High, will be with us for a week and will rotate through our operational, design, and commercial teams to gain an understanding of the various aspects involved in a live construction project.
Keep revisiting the project microsite for more regular updates!
