WIDER COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT

  • In July, Apprentice Quantity Surveyor, Ugne, and Social Value Manager, Monica from the Manor Rad team supported an Enterprise Day event at Stratford School organised by Inspire EBP. We started the day with a team-building exercise, talked about the different job roles in the construction industry and encouraged discussions around entrepreneurship, sustainability, and green jobs.
  • The Manor Road team had three LDEUTC (London Design Engineering UTC) students on week-long work experience, with the Site Management, Quantity Surveying, and Design Management teams.
  • This month we met with Build Skill to discuss a 2-week construction boot camp for Newham residents, to be delivered from Manor Road’s Knowledge Quad.
  • In July, the Social Value team had a second meeting with Catch 22 to discuss a group of young people on a Catch 22 programme to visit the Manor Road site for a career in construction talk by the Manor Road team. Catch22 is working with young people not in education, employment, or training helping them to get work ready.
  • The Social Value team met with M.I.T, a training provider, about delivering a construction boot camp in Newham. We have agreed to hold a second meeting (6th August) so that M.I.T. can view the Morgan Sindall Knowledge Quad in Newham.
  • The Social Value team is working alongside Bouygues to set up a Construction Forum in Newham. We have invited several contractors working in Newham to the first meeting in September.
