Here's the latest News

Site Activities

As we go into September, Autumn is amongst us, but here at Houghton Regis Leisure and Community Centre things are only just starting to blossom. The external works are progressing well with the construction of the cycle and footpaths and the commencement of the landscaping works. The front entrance glazing panel system is being installed and the trespa cladding is now near completion. Internally the main pool tiling has now been completed with the confidence pool and learner pool to commence next. The floor screeding contractor has now joined the team working alongside the underfloor heating contractor. Walls continue to be plastered and rendered with the painters following closely behind. Our Mechanical and Electrical contractor remains forever present working their way through the building.

Community Engagement

This month we donated some topsoil to the neighbouring school (Priory Parkside Preschool) to aid the children in planting their flowers. Neve Battista (electrical student) continues her work experience with T.Clarke our electrical contractor gaining valuable hands-on experience of what it’s like working as an electrician on a building site. Sam Martin remains working for Morgan Sindall as an apprentice quantity surveyor assisted through CoTrain.

Upcoming Work

This month will see the external landscaping continue to progress and the closing of the external façade with the installation of the remaining glazing and external doors. Temporary heating will then be installed to help the finishing trades. Our specialist contractor Courtcraft will be starting on site to commence the walls of the squash courts and Kone will make a start on the installation of the lifts. Tiling of the pools and walls will continue around the building. There will be a big focus on getting the floor screed complete with the underfloor heating to open areas for internal trades again. The internal trades mentioned above will all continue to progress through the building as we close into the winter months.
