Site Activities
We’ve got plenty of tricks up our sleeve this month, Houghton Regis Leisure and Community Centre is surely in for a treat. The doors and the final few pieces of glass are now being installed to fully seal the building. External footpaths and landscaping are ongoing around the building. The confidence pool has now been tiled and progress is being made on the learner pool and surrounding walls. Building services are progressing well allowing ceiling grids to commence. The ground floor has now been screeded with all the underfloor heating in place. The glass balustrade around the pool has started in preparation for tilers to complete the tiled edge finish. The squash court walls are now finished, and the lift installation has commenced.
Community Engagement
This month we have been contacted by The Careers and Enterprise Company to support a staff development initiative which will take place next month. Neve Battista (electrical student) continues her work experience with T.Clarke our electrical contractor gaining valuable hands-on experience of what it’s like working as an electrician on a building site. Sam Martin remains working for Morgan Sindall as an apprentice quantity surveyor assisted through CoTrain.
Upcoming Work
This month will see the internal works really progress well. The tiling contractor will start to motor on with large parts of the render now complete. With the ceiling being installed it should bring the rooms a step forward to completion. The underfloor heating and screed will start on the first floor which will need to be sequenced around all other traders working in the same area. The glass balustrade should come to completion this month and all scaffold inside the building will be dismantled. The lift installation is due to finish this month as well opening up the last few areas for the plasterer. Our mechanical and electrical contractor will continue to progress with data, fire alarms, ventilation, lighting and power. External landscaping and footpaths are steadily progressing from the further points of the site.
