Morgan Sindall Construction Scotland’s Digital Lead, Gary Hogg, attended a roundtable discussion on digital skills in construction in the South of Scotland on Friday 24th March.
Gary was invited by Dumfries & Galloway College, Borders College and Digital Construction Skills, to discuss digital skills gaps and utilisation of digital construction within the Morgan Sindall Construction business.
Key points of discussion included:
- the digital tools already used within Morgan Sindall Construction
- the barriers faced in implementing new digital tools and ways of working
- the digital skills we hope to see young people leaving college with
Morgan Sindall were delighted to support alongside a number of key employers from across the South of Scotland.
Morgan Sindall were keen to be a voice in the discussion to join change makers and to help ensure that the education system is more aligned to changing skills needs, so that College leavers have the right blend of technical and soft skills for the workplace.
Gary said, “We had a great discussion on Friday morning at the Digital Skills in Construction in the South of Scotland round table event organised by Dumfries and Galloway College, Borders College and Digital Construction Skills. It was great to discuss the emerging careers in digital construction and how we address the skills gap so that young people leave education 'career ready'.”
