Community Newsletter - November 2024

We are pleased to provide an update on the upcoming works for the Camden Hostels redevelopment projects at Chester Road and Camden Road. Both sites have progressed, and initial groundwork is scheduled to begin shortly.

How We’re Protecting Residents

To minimise disruption and ensure the wellbeing of the community, we’ve implemented a comprehensive safety plan:

  • Safe Segregation and Security: Secure site hoardings and barriers will be placed around the perimeter to ensure the safety of residents and the public.
  • Noise and Dust Control: We are employing advanced methods to control noise, vibration, and dust. To reduce impact, quieter construction equipment will be used along with additional dust-suppressant measures.
  • Controlled Access and Traffic Management: Deliveries will be carefully scheduled, and traffic marshals will be on-site to safely manage vehicle movement.

Colva Walk Closure on Chester Road Site

Please note that Colva Walk will be temporarily closed from 25th November 2024 until Summer 2026. We understand the importance of keeping you informed about this closure and the measures we’re taking to ensure resident safety and convenience.

Reason for Colva Walk Closure

The closure is essential to maintaining health, safety, and neighbourhood wellbeing, for the following reasons:

  • Health and Safety Requirements: Major groundwork and utility installations will take place close to Colva Walk, presenting potential risks to pedestrians. Closing the path allows us to establish a safe exclusion zone for these works.
  • Preventing Anti-Social Behaviour (ASB): Closing Colva Walk during this intensive construction phase also prevents unauthorised access and reduces ASB risks, protecting both the site and surrounding residential areas.

Communication and Engagement

We are committed to keeping residents informed throughout the project and will provide updates through:

  • Monthly Newsletters and Site Notice Boards
  • Dedicated Project Website Updates

This is a highly exciting project for Morgan Sindall and the London Borough of Camden, and we are delighted to be working in your borough.
