The team were delighted to donate £500 to Stevie Strang of McDonald Scaffolding who is taking part in this year's Strictly Inverness, a large fundraising event which raises valuable funds for Highland Hospice and Inverness Ice Centre, both local charities close to the hearts of many.
Strictly Inverness 2023 took place throughout the 4 days of 10th – 13th May, and Stevie was involved in three of these shows.
Stevie’s commitment has been extensive; He was required to raise as much money as possible, secure a corporate sponsor, and attend 5 x hourly training sessions per week for 12 weeks to be well prepared for his performances. He also performed in front of a panel of judges. Stevie’s determination is admirable, and we were thrilled to be able to support.
Highland Hospice is the only hospice serving adults with incurable life limiting disease in the Highlands of Scotland and are acknowledged as a resource of specialist palliative care expertise in the region. Palliative care focuses on the control of pain and other symptoms, on the reduction of suffering and on the enhancement of the life that remains. By addressing these physical, psychological, and social needs the aim is to enable patients to live out their life with dignity and to offer support to their families and friends, both during the patient’s illness and into bereavement.
Inverness Ice Centre provides excellent facilities for enjoying Ice Sport all year round including a five-rink ice arena for Curling, Ice Hockey, and Ice Skating. Over the years there have been many changes but in 2004 with assistance from SportScotland’s lottery funding the facility is now a registered charity and fully owned by its members. The Ice Centre secured funding of £685,000 in 2016/17 and with an ice plant replacement, new ice pad and new barrier system it brings the facility right into the 21st century.
