We've been selected for the latest generation of the Southern Construction Framework

News |

Morgan Sindall Construction is pleased to confirm that it has been selected for the latest generation of the Southern Construction Framework, SCF 5.

Operating across Greater London, the South East and South West of England, the four-year framework governs projects with an estimated total value of £4.5 billion.

The tier one contractor was successful in all four of the Lots it tendered. These cover projects of £4m or more in London, the South East and the South West, as well as a new Lot for projects in the west region of the South West that are between £1-5 million in value.

This will be the fifth generation of SCF, which was first established in 2006. To date it has procured over £8 billion of construction activity.

This appointment builds upon Morgan Sindall’s partnership with the SCF. This collaboration has delivered 168 projects with a combined value of £1.7 billion in a variety of sectors such as education, healthcare, residential and leisure. These schemes have spent 82% of the project value with small to medium local businesses. During SCF 3 Morgan Sindall created more than £50 million in added value and with circa £400 million projects still in delivery as part of SCF4 this value will increase significantly.

Created to support public sector construction and development in the region, across all sectors including education, health, local authority, leisure developments, SCF Construct is available to all public bodies in the South East, London and the South West. SCF supports public sector clients in delivering buildings and places that enhance local communities achieving significant social and environmental value. It has a strong focus on improved building operational outcomes, sustainability and working towards Net Zero Carbon targets.

SCF 5 will commence on the 2nd May and provide public sector organisations with accelerated access to Morgan Sindall Construction as one of the principal contractors enabled to deliver new builds, refurbishments, extensions and fit-outs.

The new framework will build upon the established Two Stage Open Book approach, enabling collaborative solutions to building projects. This Government-recommended delivery method is part of an initiative to reform UK construction practices and is unique in the way it brings the contractor, stakeholders and suppliers together at the very start of a construction project.

Pat Boyle, managing director of Morgan Sindall Construction, said: “We are delighted to have been appointed to SCF 5 and look forward to building upon the successes of the previous generations of this framework. As a business that has deep roots across London and the South, we are proud of our track record of supporting placemaking, producing lower carbon buildings and delivering impactful Social Value via our Intelligent Solutions approach. Our ability to bring together digital and platform design capabilities with modern construction methods and carbon reduction tools puts us in a position where we can make a positive contribution to everything that SCF 5 sets out to achieve.”
Kingsley Clarke and Adam Sanford, SCF Operation Leads, commented: “We are pleased to be able to continue our long-standing partnership with Morgan Sindall in this latest generation of SCF. Our clients value the ability of Morgan Sindall to engage on projects early in order to ensure they deliver on their aspirations and organisational priorities as well as provide demonstrable value for money. As a framework we are very demanding on our contractor partners with requirements to contribute to a range of industry leading working group initiatives and it is gratifying to see that Morgan Sindall continue to hold SCF in high regard and work with us in our shared objectives to improve the construction industry for all.”
