We've recently handed over the new Pear Tree High School, a new Specialist Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) school located in Cheadle Hulme, Stockport. This state-of-the-art facility, operated by the Prospere Learning Trust and funded by the Department for Education (DfE), will provide essential specialist education for 133 students aged 11-19.
Pear Tree High School represents a significant enhancement in local SEND provision, offering a transformative learning environment tailored to meet the needs of young people in the area. The school features modern indoor classrooms, a forest school, outdoor classrooms, and a multi-use games area.
In addition to its educational facilities, the school includes water gardens, photovoltaic (PV) arrays, and other energy efficiency measures, achieving Net Zero Carbon in Operation (NZCIO) status.
As a collaborative construction partner, Morgan Sindall utilised its expertise of Intelligent Solutions which brings together digital and platform design with modern construction methods, innovative carbon reduction tools, and by regularly engaging with key stakeholders focusing on the use of the indoor and outdoor spaces, Morgan Sindall have created these inspiring new facilities.
Pear Tree’s curriculum is structured to equip young people with a significant learning need with the skills to thrive as they progress to college and employment. The organisation of the curriculum reflects the needs of all students. Beyond the academic curriculum, the school will provide experiences which enhance pupils’ skills enabling them to understand the wider world so they can become effective citizens.
Students have moved into the new school following October half term.
