Morgan Sindall Construction has celebrated the opening of the new Nottinghamshire Gymnastics Academy facilities with a gymnastics event at Rushcliffe Spencer Academy.
The event that took place in July saw delegates from Morgan Sindall, Rushcliffe Spencer Academy and Nottinghamshire County Council (NCC) open the first half of the new, state-of-the-art facilities, which are set to enhance the educational and athletic infrastructure in the local area.
To mark the major milestone in the £27 million expansion project, Morgan Sindall sponsored the day’s gymnastics competition, and provided refreshments, free children’s books, and other merchandise to attendees.
Senior Project Manager Jason Lyne and Site Manager Russ Gretton represented the leading construction firm at the celebration.
The project, led by NCC, has seen the old leisure centre demolished to expand the school’s capacity, with Morgan Sindall working with all parties to preserve the gymnastics academy in its current location, and improve, modernise and expand the facilities.
The expansion at Rushcliffe Spencer Academy includes a new teaching block, dining facilities, a sports hall, and improved external areas. The project is part of NCC’s aims to address the growing demand for school places in the area by adding 450 secondary places and 110 sixth form places.
Richard Fielding, Area Director for Morgan Sindall Construction in the Midlands, said:
Morgan Sindall is delighted to contribute to this transformative project, which is set to address the local community’s needs for more school places and enhanced educational facilities, along with the provision of state-of-the art training facilities for the next generation of athletes.
It was great to celebrate the opening of the Academy and we can’t wait to see the positive impact these new facilities will have on students and athletes alike.”
