Morgan Sindall Construction brings Christmas cheer to St Albans

Morgan Sindall Construction is helping to spread festive cheer to residents across St Albans in the run up to Christmas.

The company is supporting St Albans City & District Council and the St Albans Business Improvement District (the BID) by sponsoring a number of community events over the Christmas period and will be raising money to help some of the city’s most vulnerable people.

Morgan Sindall Construction’s Northern Home Counties office is supporting Herts Young Homeless (HYH), which offers support to young people aged 16-24 who are homeless or are at risk of becoming homeless in Hertfordshire.

The charity provides a variety of free services to young people, including education in secondary schools, an advice line, family mediation, crisis support and access to emergency accommodation as well as on-going support with tenancy sustainment and health services.

As part of St Albans’ festive programme, the construction company sponsored an illuminated display at the council’s community light switch on, where a pop-up stall was set up for HYH volunteers to sell merchandise and raise vital funds.

Members of the local community, including elderly residents from Grace Muriel House and Passport to Leisure, a scheme which aims to integrate adults with learning disabilities into the community through leisure and sporting activities, were brought together for a festive film screening of the Christmas classic It’s A Wonderful Life. The Christmas in the Museum festival was sponsored by Morgan Sindall Construction and delivered by the St Albans film festival volunteers

Free tickets were donated to elderly residents and carers from care homes across the city, who were given free transport to the event by local taxi service Corker Cabs.

Thanks to the sponsorship of the festival by St Albans businesses, including Morgan Sindall Construction, all proceeds from ticket sales went to the Museum Charity Trust and the St Albans Film Festival to support future cultural events in 2020.

Morgan Sindall Construction has also sponsored HYH to have a dedicated stall at this year’s St Albans’ Christmas market to fundraise and generate awareness of their work in the community.

Morgan Sindall Construction has a longstanding partnership with St Albans City & District Council. Earlier this year, the company successfully delivered ten new homes for the Oak Tree Gardens scheme on behalf of the council. The project, on the site of the former Museum of St Albans (MOSTA), was the city’s first residential development since 2012.

The company has also been selected as preferred bidder for a comprehensive mixed-use development to transform St Albans city centre, under a pre-construction services agreement. The project for St Albans City & District Council will form part of the Civic Centre Opportunities (CCOS) redevelopment. Morgan Sindall Construction has been provisionally selected to deliver a mixed-use development across two six storey buildings. The project consists of a new residential scheme which will house circa 100 mixed tenure apartments, alongside commercial and retail facilities which will be located on the ground and first floors. The project also comprises the construction of a new basement car park containing more than 100 car parking spaces and all associated substructure works.
